Offer description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the UHD Colorectal CNS team. We have the opportunity for a permanent post working across both sites of Bournemouth and Poole hospital. The successful applicant will work alongside the current Colorectal Cancer CNS Team in Poole. The Band 6 Colorectal Cancer CNS plays a key role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based, holistic care to patients with suspected or confirmed colorectal cancer throughout their pathway – from diagnosis through treatment to survivorship or palliative care. The postholder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing expert nursing support, specialist education, and coordination of care. This includes supporting patients and families emotionally, practically, and clinically, while ensuring timely access to investigations, treatments, and follow-up care.

Responsibilities

* Provide specialist nursing assessment and management of patients with colorectal cancer.
* Act as a key worker for patients on the colorectal cancer pathway, ensuring timely and coordinated care.
* Deliver nurse‑led clinics (e.g., results clinics, treatment support, survivorship or follow-up).
* Provide information and psychological support to patients and carers at all stages of the pathway.
* Support the management of symptoms, treatment side effects, and holistic needs.
* Work closely with the MDT (surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, dietitians, stoma nurses, etc.) to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications & Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic nurse who is keen to make a difference in the care of those experiencing a life‑changing diagnosis. We are looking for someone who is highly organised, motivated to learn, with excellent communication and team‑working skills.

UHD is investing, developing, and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. As part of this, some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will be happy to answer any service‑specific questions at interview.

If a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Any other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.

EEO Statement

UHD has active networks including Women's, BAME, Pride, EU, Pro Ability, and Armed Forces. We support Disability Confident and Armed Forces Covenant interview schemes.
