The Engineering Support Manager is responsible for the task and line management of the production engineers within our Gosport site. You will manage the Development Plan process. Lead daily tactical activities (MRB, Task Review, NCR, process reviews, NPI etc.) as well as strategic initiatives across the Production Engineering function for the plant (PFMEA, TPM, and Tool Management, Product Transitions/Robust process Creation/Improvement Initiatives). Individual project(s) including procuring new equipment, equipment upgrades, process improvements as well as robust corrective actions utilising the company’s quality tools. Essential Responsibilities Design, develop, implement, and improve safe and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes utilising industry standard practices Utilising processes to ensure that components and assemblies meet all internal and external customer quality specifications (Customer requirements, AS9100, and NADCAP) Implement Processes that are efficient in terms of equipment/ material use and human resources Coordinate, direct and prioritise Production Engineering activities to assure top priorities are focused on key objectives of quality, cost, and delivery Lead Production Engineering responsibilities within the organisation while maintaining compliance to regulatory and customer requirements Design equipment, gauging, and tooling utilising modelling software and other engineering analysis and design tools Work with suppliers and purchasing to procure equipment, tooling, and supplies as required – specific equipment requirements include manual assembly, semi-automatic equipment and electronic/electrical assembly Mentor others in Production Engineering competencies, processes, and concepts Troubleshoot and improve process’ including assembly and testing of products produced Troubleshoot, recommend and implement changes in products and processes to improve manufacturability and profitability Work directly with production associates, from all areas of the organisation, in the implementation of projects in order to build an inclusive culture and processes that meet the needs of all employees and customers Collaborate with the design engineering team with the target of aiding design and improvement of processes (DFM&A). Provide functional and technical support to the organisation as required to support goals Provide support to launch projects through NPI & PM team as required to achieve a flawless launch Provide support to Transition projects as required to achieve a flawless transition into rate production Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution Industry experience of MRP/ ERP software, including production routings, BOM, Part master control, assembly & sub-contract structures Knowledge of process design, including equipment and tooling with demonstrated results Mechanical and electrical knowledge for equipment troubleshooting and recommendation of improvements to product and process Working knowledge experience in a manufacturing quality environment Preferred Qualifications Experience of managing/leading people Strong project and time management, organizational, and analytical skills Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organisation, from production associates to the leadership team Experience with NADCAP (or other industry standards) audits preferred Previous lean and/or six sigma practical experience, with demonstrated results preferred Please note that all applicants must be eligible for SC clearance as a minimum.
