Role Summary

The Sports Therapst/Physiotherapist will deliver pitch-side first aid, injury assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation for Academy players aged U9 to U16 on a flexible, zero-hour basis. This role is vital in ensuring the health and physical development of young athletes within a professional football academy environment.

Working closely with coaches and medical staff, the therapist will provide medical support during training sessions and matchdays, while also assisting in screening, injury prevention strategies and load management. All clinical findings, interventions, and player updates must be clearly and promptly communicated at the end of the training session/game to the Lead Academy Sports Therapist to ensure continuity of care and alignment with the club’s medical protocols.

Key Job Outcomes

· Provide pitch-side first aid and acute injury management during training sessions and matchdays.

· Assess, treat, and rehabilitate injuries in accordance with club protocols.

· Monitor and support the return-to-play process for injured players.

· Liaise after all training sessions and matches covered with the Lead Academy Sports Therapist to communicate all clinical decisions, player statuses, and ongoing treatment plans.

· Keep accurate and up-to-date medical notes and injury records following all assessment, treatment and/or intervention either by sending these to the Lead Academy Sports Therapist or uploading onto Kitman Labs in the SOAP format within 24 hours of seeing the player.

· Maintain compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and medical guidelines.

· Attend CPD sessions and team meetings as required.

· Assist the Lead Academy Sports Therapist and Academy Physiotherapist to carry out movement and postural screening, growth and maturation screening and other testing throughout the season.

· Maintain up to date ITMMiF/ATMMiF and provide pitch-side emergency care in accordance with teaching

· Attend EAP stress testing

· Build and maintain strong interdisciplinary relationships with staff in Performance, Coaching, Education, Player Care, Operations and Recruitment.

· To assist in departmental CPD training programmes.

· Support the U18 medical programme when required to ensure continuity across age groups.
