About Us:
Nurtured Childcare are an award-winning nursery group, where children really are at the centre of what we do and we like to think outside of the box to bring new and exciting activities to our nurseries. We are scaling fast via acquisition, so there are a lot of exciting things in the pipeline.
Role Overview:
As Financial Controller, you'll take full ownership of the group's finance function. You'll manage reporting across multiple entities, lead on integrations post-acquisition, and work closely with the CEO and FD to ensure financial rigour supports our ambitious growth plan.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the day-to-day finance function, including a team of 6 (Finance Assistant, Management Accountants and Payroll Manager Finance Manager.
* Own monthly management accounts, P&L by site, and consolidated group reporting.
* Maintain robust financial controls, processes, and reporting timelines.
* Oversee statutory accounts, audit, and regulatory compliance.
* Drive automation and improvements (we're transitioning from QuickBooks to Xero).
* Streamline data flows between finance and nursery management systems (Famly).
* Support due diligence, acquisition modelling, and post-deal integration.
* Assist with financial forecasting and multi-site budgeting.
* Partner with the CEO and FD on cashflow management, funding, and performance insight.
* Provide proactive commercial analysis to support decision-making.
What we're looking for:
Essential
* ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified with 5+ years post-qualified experience.
* Multi-entity/group finance experience (preferably in a services, retail, or childcare environment).
* Experienced in managing or scaling finance teams.
* Strong understanding of financial systems, controls, and reporting.
* Commercially sharp, hands-on, and thrives in a fast-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
* Exposure to M&A or post-acquisition integration
Desirable
* Familiarity with Xero and nursery/childcare sector software (e.g. Family).
