Job Overview
The post is part of a multi‑disciplined team of technicians within the Electronic and Bio‑Medical Engineering department, responsible for ensuring medical equipment operates effectively and safely with minimal downtime. The role involves calibrating and maintaining medical equipment for patient care.
Responsibilities
* Provide support to electrical, electronic, mechanical, and oxygen therapy equipment, including planned preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, and acceptance testing.
* Use appropriate test equipment safely, including highly specialised and expensive tools.
* Reference correct protocols for type and range of equipment.
* Complete planned preventative maintenance to the specified schedule.
* Attend wards, departments, primary care trusts, and other organisations to perform equipment maintenance and carry out non‑scheduled repairs, including the movement of heavy items.
* Clarify issues affecting maintenance and their impact on clinical services.
* Implement departmental policies and procedures, and propose changes that may impact other professions.
* Act on safety notices from MHRA and engineering updates, liaising with healthcare professionals for timely execution.
* Assist with investigation of adverse incidents relating to medical devices and report potential incidents when identified.
