University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) is seeking an enthusiastic and team‑orientated Consultant in Gastroenterology to join the department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB). This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high‑performing, research‑active, and collaborative Gastroenterology service that benefits from close partnership with specialist teams at QEHB. We welcome applicants with a broad Gastroenterology skillset, and especially those who can contribute a sub‑specialist interest that complements the department (eg luminal inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), advanced endoscopy in upper or lower GI medicine, intestinal ultrasound and capsule endoscopy).
The Gastroenterology department at QEHB delivers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services, including general gastroenterology, complex IBD, advanced therapeutic endoscopy, and intestinal failure. The team is responsible for all patients on a 24 bedded in‑patient ward in the main hospital (ward 302) and provides a consult service for the rest of the hospital. QEHB has fully JAG‑accredited endoscopy suites. The appointee will work closely with multidisciplinary medical and surgical colleagues, nursing teams and allied health professionals. The appointee will contribute to a supportive environment grounded in teamwork, respect, continuous improvement and reflecting the UHB values (Kind, Connected, Bold).
