Independent Living Services – Support Worker

The Role:
Our services are in demand! So we are growing our great team of Support Workers to enable more adults with learning disabilities to have independent, healthy and fulfilled lives. We are particularly interested in recruiting people with experience in learning disabilities and autism including providing support to adults with moderate to more complex needs. Very competitive pay rates (from £12.60 per hour), paid training, career progression and much more. Full/part-time, sleeping nights, flexible hours and bank opportunities available.

1. To develop and sustain positive and trusted working relationships with members, always ensuring professional boundaries are maintained

2. To assist with member recruitment, induction, assessment and review including the creation, monitoring and review of Individual Learning and Development Plans

3. To provide dynamic, person-centred support enabling maximum benefit to be gained from our services/activities, individual potential to be realised and improved confidence, skills, creativity, health, inclusion and progression

4. To enable and empower members to achieve agreed goals including by proactively planning support, preparing and using relevant materials, resources and facilities

5. To focus and adapt support to ensure that members/participants make tangible improvements in their confidence, skills, independence and their achievement of agreed goals and outcomes

6. To record and provide recognition for individual achievements and to support others including staff, volunteers and families, to do so

7. To support members to express their needs, views and any concerns, enabling them to participate as fully as possible in the planning, review and adaptation of the support and services provided to them

8. To help ensure the compliance of members, other staff and volunteers as appropriate with agreed organisation and service rules, standards and expectations

9. To help manage and support groups effectively, taking account of group dynamics alongside collective and individual learning and behaviour management and support needs

10. To support professional and positive relationships with parents/carers and other professionals involved in members’ care/support

11. To work closely with other staff, tutors, volunteers and partner organisations and ensure good communications are maintained at all times

12. To develop, maintain, monitor and review individual learning and development plans/support plans for members/clients including relevant risk assessments

13. To develop, operate and maintain robust record keeping procedures ensuring accurate, up-to-date and compliant (e.g. data protection, confidentiality) member/client records

14. To provide verbal and written reports to Line Managers and input as required to reports for the charity’s Management Team, CEO and Board

15. To comply with all relevant ICE Ltd policies, standards and procedures including for health and safety, safeguarding, data protection and confidentiality and social media

16. To report any risks, concerns, issues including service quality issues to your Line Manager and/or Senior Manager

17. To respond flexibly to the changing needs of our services and organisation and adhere to ICE values, codes of conduct, policies and procedures

18. To participate in training and development to meet identified business service and individual needs and share learning across the organisation

19. Other duties as agreed, commensurate with the nature and level of the post
