SEN Teacher – Specialist SEND School (Totton)
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated, patient, and compassionate SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEND school in Totton, supporting pupils aged 2-19 with a diverse range of needs. The school caters for children and young people with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties, autism, and a variety of communication, sensory, and physical needs.
With Primary and Secondary provision across two sites, the school provides a highly individualised, nurturing environment where pupils are supported to develop communication, independence, emotional wellbeing, and essential life skills. As an SEN Teacher, you will play a key role in shaping meaningful learning experiences that meet each pupil’s unique needs.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning and delivering highly differentiated, personalised lessons for pupils with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties and autism
2. Supporting pupils with communication needs, sensory processing differences, and physical or medical needs (full training provided)
3. Implementing structured learning activities, therapeutic programmes, and multi‑sensory curriculum approaches
4. Promoting emotional wellbeing, safety, and positive engagement throughout the school day
5. Supporting pupils with personal care, mobility, and independence where required
6. Using calm, consistent, and nurturing approaches to build trust and reduce barriers to learning
7. Working collaboratively with LSAs, therapists, and wider support teams across both school sites
8. Monitoring progress, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to EHCP reviews and target setting
Contract Details
9. Location: Totton
10. Position: SEN Teacher – SEND
11. Hours: Full‑time
12. Start Date: September 2026
13. Contract Type: Long‑term, full‑time, with temp‑to‑perm pathways available
14. Pay Rate: MPR or UPR + SEN allowance
Requirements
To be considered, you must:
15. Have the Right to Work in the UK
16. Hold an enhanced child‑barred list DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply)
17. Provide professional references covering the last 24 months
18. Hold QTS, QTLS, or an equivalent teaching qualification
19. Have experience teaching pupils with SEND, or strong experience within specialist settings
