Specialty Doctor in Critical Care

The Trust seeks to appoint a Specialty Doctor in Critical Care. This is a 1‑year fixed‑term post and applicants will be expected to have suitable experience within Critical Care. The new appointee will share the caseload, facilities and trainee grade support with the existing specialty doctors.

You will be joining a dynamic and forward‑thinking team of doctors and the division of Anaesthesia at BHRUT, which provides anaesthetic, critical care and acute and chronic pain services for the local population. This includes elective and emergency anaesthesia across a range of surgical specialties, a consultant‑led critical care outreach team, acute pain ward rounds and outpatient clinics.


Responsibilities

* Contribute to the provision of a high quality, responsive critical care service to Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust, caring for patients on ITUs and HDUs at Queen's Hospital and/or King George Hospital, and in Accident & Emergency, theatre recovery and ward areas.
* Review patients, initiate critical care treatment and undertake transfer of patients (both intra‑ and inter‑hospital).
* Comply with the agreed job plan, which will be reviewed annually.
* Participate in an out‑of‑hours resident on‑call cover for critical care medicine.
* Contribute to postgraduate and continuing education for medical, nursing, technical staff, GPs and other allied professions.
* Deputise in the absence of departmental colleagues in cases of annual leave and, where practicable, short‑term sickness.
