About the Role As the school’s Caretaker, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running, safety and maintenance of the site. Duties will include: • Carrying out general repairs, maintenance and minor DIY tasks across the school • Opening and securing the premises, including daily lock/unlock routines • Conducting regular health & safety checks, including fire alarms and emergency exits • Supervising contractors on site and ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures • Supporting cleaning teams and maintaining high site standards • Setting up rooms for events, assemblies and exams • Monitoring stock levels of essential materials and ordering supplies where necessary • Responding to site-related issues promptly and professionally This is an active, hands-on role that requires initiative, good communication and the ability to prioritise tasks efficiently. Experience and Qualifications • Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance or facilities role (school experience desirable but not essential) • Strong practical skills including basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating or general DIY • Knowledge of health & safety procedures and site compliance • Good organisational skills and ability to work independently • A positive, can-do attitude and commitment to maintaining high standards • Must hold or be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check Salary Paid according to experience and the local support staff pay scale.
