Mechanical Design Manager – Medical Devices

Location: Warwick, UK

Employment type: Permanent

About the Role:

We’re experiencing significant growth in our medical and scientific division, driven by a surge in long‑term, high‑impact projects. To support this expansion, we’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Manager to lead complex product development initiatives within the medical sector. In this role you’ll take ownership of diverse projects from concept through delivery, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with stringent industry standards. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including mechanical, electronics, software, and design specialists—to create innovative, user‑focused medical products that make a real difference in people’s lives.

Beyond technical leadership, you’ll play a key role in client engagement: preparing proposals, managing budgets and timelines, and building lasting relationships with strategic partners. You’ll also contribute to sector growth through marketing activities, presentations, and thought leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead and manage end‑to‑end medical product development projects within ISO 13485 frameworks.
* Oversee technical delivery while balancing cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
* Prepare detailed project plans, quotes, and financial forecasts.
* Coordinate and mentor multidisciplinary teams, ensuring high standards and effective collaboration.
* Drive creative problem‑solving and deliver innovative engineering solutions.
* Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows (including international).
* Support marketing initiatives through presentations, articles, and client engagement.
* Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with key clients.

What We’re Looking For:

* Proven track record in medical device design and development, ideally within a consultancy setting.
* Strong experience applying CAE tools and advanced engineering techniques to medical products.
* Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Design Engineering (1st or Upper 2nd class) or equivalent.
* Familiarity with high‑volume manufacturing processes such as injection moulding.
* Excellent communication skills and ability to lead by example.
* Eligibility to work in the UK and willingness to work on‑site at our Warwick studio.
* A proactive, detail‑oriented approach with a passion for delivering exceptional results.

What We Offer:

* Opportunity to lead world‑class projects for global medical and scientific brands.
* Work alongside industry experts to create innovative, high‑performance products.
* Career development through structured training and mentoring programs.
* Involvement in projects from early concept stages through to market launch.
* A collaborative environment where your ideas and leadership make a tangible impact.
