We have committed to being a net zero organisation by 2030. Defra Group Fleet Services is responsible for leading the fleet transition to net carbon zero.
Role and responsibilities
* Work with a team of fleet specialists to support delivery of ambitious fleet targets and drive tangible change.
* Collaborate with contract specialists to support delivery of a varied work programme of purchase and service contracts for the Environment Agency and Defra Partners.
* Identify business needs, determine contract strategy, and lead tender processes including award of contracts.
* Lead relationships with key suppliers; manage contracts through the full lifecycle, develop and monitor KPIs, work with suppliers to reduce environmental footprint, maintain a cost‑effective fleet, and ensure compliance with legal and health & safety responsibilities.
* Exemplary relationship management and influencing skills are critical to the role.
Team
Defra Group Fleet Services (DGFS) is a national team providing a collaborative fleet service across the Defra group. We are part of the Strategy, Transformation & Assurance Directorate. The Contracts team develops contract requirements, determines and awards contracts, and manages supplier performance to ensure delivery of contracted services. The role reports to the Fleet Manager for Contracts.
Experience / Skills
* Establish and maintain good relationships with internal and external partners to understand and influence their activities and promote Environment Agency goals.
* Provide advice and guidance as an expert in fleet contracts, developing appropriate solutions within policy and best practice guidelines.
* Contribute to the development of Environment Agency policy and process at national/local level, monitoring and advising on effective implementation in the business in line with environmental targets.
* Develop and implement systems and tools for monitoring and reporting on service delivery; assess operational performance/compliance and advise senior managers on implications and action.
* A contract manager ensures suppliers deliver the required contract standards.
* Experience of procurement processes within Defra is desirable.
* Well organized and a self-starter.
Location and requirements
The location is flexible; you will be comfortable working as part of a dispersed team with remote working and management. You may be required to work in EA offices and attend national meetings, possibly with some overnight stays. A Full UK Driving Licence is required.
