Band 6 Specialist Biomedical Scientist – Histology
Location
Queen's Hospital, Romford (staff may also work at King George Hospital if required)
Key Responsibilities
* Perform scientific investigations in the Histology department under direction of senior Biomedical Scientists.
* Possibly supervise trainees, contribute to training, quality and health & safety.
* Support the diagnostic service provided by the department to the Trust.
Requirements
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
* Completed the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology or extensive recent experience working as a BMS in Histology.
* Currently working in a routine histology laboratory.
* Excellent communication (verbal and written), organisational and manual dexterity skills.
* Patient‑focused approach and commitment to continual improvement of self, service and team.
* Friendly, professional, proactive and self‑motivating.
Experience & Knowledge
* In‑depth knowledge of Histological practice and theory.
* Knowledge of Pathology software.
* Experience working in the NHS.
* Demonstrated experience of digital pathology.
Key Information
* Band 6, permanent contract, full time (37.5 hrs per week).
* Salary £45,953 – £54,254 per annum inclusive.
