Overall Purpose of The Job
Join our Legal Team at Kensington Mortgages as an In-House Solicitor to provide high-quality legal advice across the business on a range of matters, including mortgage originations, servicing, FCA regulation, litigation, AML legislation, fraud, data protection, property, contracts, and more.
The department handles a varied workload, offering opportunities for candidates with diverse experience to contribute and develop their skills, collaborating with our legal colleagues at Barclays.
Key Accountabilities
* Delivering timely, practical legal advice to the business
* Managing caseloads including disputes and litigation with external solicitors
* Drafting and negotiating contracts, legal documents, and policies
* Providing legal guidance on mortgage applications, business documentation, policies, procedures, and risk management
* Supporting compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, advising on legislative changes
* Building strong relationships with stakeholders
* Protecting the company and other lenders in disputes and contractual relationships
* Contributing legal expertise to projects within Kensington and Barclays
* Acting with integrity and promoting fair customer outcomes
Candidate Requirements:
* Qualified solicitor admitted to practice in England and Wales
* 1-4 years post-qualification experience
* Strong experience in financial services, especially mortgage lending or litigation
* Knowledge of residential conveyancing and land registration (advantageous)
* Confident communicator with analytical and legal skills
* Team player with a proactive attitude
