Financial Controller
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Financial Controller to join a growing finance team within a global Investment Management business.
This is a critical role in the ongoing development of the Finance function, reporting directly to the Head of Finance and based in central London.
Key Responsibilities
The Senior Financial Controller will take ownership of group financial reporting, treasury forecasting, consolidation, and regulatory responsibilities, including:
* Oversight of month-end close processes for all UK and international group entities
* Preparation and review of group consolidated accounts, including multi-currency consolidations and elimination adjustments
* Preparation of statutory accounts and coordination of year-end audits for UK entities and the wider group
* Development and ownership of treasury forecasting models, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and intercompany funding requirements
* Monitoring of group cash positions, ensuring optimal liquidity and efficient allocation of working capital across entities and funds
* Oversight of fund-level financials, including review of NAV reporting, fund performance analysis, and reconciliation between fund and management company accounts
* Preparation of fund financial statements and coordination with third-party fund administrators, custodians, and auditors
* Review and submission of financial regulatory reporting in the UK, including coordination with Compliance, implementation of new regulatory requirements, and regulatory capital forecasting
* Oversight and administration of co-investment vehicles, including preparation of accounts, loan scheme management, and coordination of information for limited partnership tax returns
* Oversight and administration of the company's shareholding and employee investment schemes, including preparation of accounts and loan scheme management
* Cash and FX management, including monitoring exposures, supporting hedging activities, and maintaining relationships with banking partners
* Management and development of two direct reports, providing guidance and oversight on consolidation, treasury, and fund accounting activities
* Development and maintenance of group accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with IFRS and internal controls
* Identification and implementation of process improvements to enhance robustness and efficiency in financial, treasury, and fund reporting
* Contribution to strategic finance projects, ad hoc analysis, and management reporting to support business growth and investment decisions
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with a strong background in investment management, asset management, or financial services.
Key requirements include:
* Degree educated (2:1 or higher) or equivalent
* Accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 5+ years post-qualification experience
* 10+ years in a similar role within financial or professional services
* Demonstrable experience in group consolidation, treasury management, and fund financial reporting
* Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills (including cash flow forecasting, scenario modelling, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.)
* Highly organised, efficient, and capable of managing multiple priorities
* Strong team player with integrity, a proactive attitude, and a willingness to support others
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Able to work independently and meet tight deadlines under pressure
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and jurisdictions
* Experience with accounting software, ideally Microsoft Business Central, and exposure to treasury or consolidation tools (e.g., Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, or equivalent)
