The Engineer Pub and Restaurant has been under the same independent ownership for over 20 years and forms part of locally owned, Fishermann Pub Group, well renowned in North Hertfordshire. Our pubs are all unique and the food offer is critical to our ongoing success as well as a diverse drinks range, live sports, large outdoor drinking and dining areas, regular entertainment and above all great customer service.
We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to step into the already successful kitchen. Working with the General Manager you will take on the management and development of the existing team, and be fully responsible for recruitment and training. You will ensure the successful delivery of a freshly cooked menu available 7 days a week including daily specials, events and Sunday roasts.
As an experienced Chef you will bring:
At least 3 years Head Chef or Kitchen Management experience
Positive energy and personality
Passion for food and drink (eating and serving it!), creative menu development and understanding of a multi menu environment
Calmness and a can do attitude in a busy work environment.
Leadership and teamwork to motivate and drive the existing team to deliver the food budget
Great communication with every team member
Extensive experience with people management, including recruitment, training, performance management, and career planning
Proven ability to act as a role model demonstrating a positive approach to team morale and development
Ability to plan and maintain rota schedules to ensure adequate and efficient staffing levels in line with the labour budget
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Attention to detail and exceptionally high service standards
Understanding of budgets, KPIs and P&L management
Current knowledge of compliance with Health and Food Safety procedures
Excellent command of English with the ability to communicate confidently
Proof of eligibility to work in the United Kingdom
