Job Summary
Ready to lead, inspire, and make a lasting difference in young people’s mental health? As a Supervising Practitioner you will play a pivotal role in improving the emotional wellbeing of children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs within Compass’s growing Bloom Service. Working across education settings you will deliver evidence‑based therapeutic interventions, support Whole School Approaches, build staff confidence through consultation, training and strategic collaboration, and provide clinical supervision and guidance to Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and trainees. You will raise standards, strengthen clinical governance and foster an environment where reflective practice thrives.
Responsibilities
* Provide therapeutic interventions for children and young people.
* Support the implementation of Whole School Approaches.
* Deliver clinical supervision and guidance to EMHPs and trainees.
* Raise standards and strengthen clinical governance.
* Work collaboratively with a values‑led team committed to early intervention and systemic impact.
Key Qualifications
* Nationally recognised qualification in mental health or a related field (e.g. EMHP, CWP, nursing, psychotherapy, social work).
* Eligibility to practise under a governing body such as BABCP or NMC.
* At least two years experience delivering therapeutic interventions to children and young people.
* Postgraduate Certificate in supervision or management, or willingness to undertake one.
* Strong knowledge of CBT‑informed approaches and experience providing clinical supervision.
* Confidence in risk assessment, safeguarding and working across agencies.
* Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
* Ability to work in education or community settings with a flexible, solution‑focused mindset.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (or equivalent).
Experience
* Minimum two years post‑qualification experience working therapeutically with children and young people.
* Experience of line management and/or delivery of clinical supervision.
* Experience delivering CBT informed supervision, preferably in education settings.
* Experience working in a community and/or educational environment.
* Evidence of clinical development in practice and effective engagement with CYPF.
* Experience in risk assessment and safeguarding.
Desirable
* Leadership or mentorship experience within child and young person services.
* Management or supervision training.
* Postgraduate therapeutic qualification, ideally low‑intensity CBT.
* Experience organising team duties, inducting staff and working in a skill‑mix team.
