Role Overview
The Speech and Language Therapy Assistant will support a safe, effective and person-centred service to children and young adults with complex neuro-disability at Chailey Clinical Services.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of speech and language therapy to children and young people with complex sensory, physical and communication needs.
* Create and adapt bespoke communication systems and resources, including communication passports.
* Write up therapy notes and use electronic patient records.
* Demonstrate therapy interventions and resources to parents, school and support staff.
* Attend and participate in team meetings, organise meetings and take minutes where required.
* Provide efficient administrative support to the Speech and Language Therapy team.
* Handle telephone and email enquiries in a professional and compassionate manner.
* Assist with data entry, manage spreadsheets, report preparation and general office tasks.
Qualifications
* Previous experience working with children and young people with speech and language or learning needs.
* Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with those with atypical communication styles.
* Enthusiasm and ability to relate well to children and young adults (3-25 years).
* Strong organisational and administrative skills.
* Excellent IT skills, including ability to learn to use online patient records system and software to develop tailored resources.
* Flexibility to respond to a range of demands and ability to work well as part of a multi‑professional team.
* Creativity, problem‑solving and self‑reflective and ongoing professional development.
* Working with a child or young person with complex neuro‑disability is desirable but not essential.
* Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship is available). Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is unlikely.

The role is 22.5 hours per week and is based at Chailey Clinical Services, North Chailey, near Lewes.
