We have a vacancy for a Design Manager. This role provides urban design support to our regional businesses to aid in land acquisitions and planning applications. The role offers overarching guidance and support across Tilia Homes and Hopkins Homes.
Duties include:
1. Ensure the preferred house type range and apartment designs are on trend, considering planning regulations, and maximize customer and community engagement through thoughtful design.
2. Be well-versed in the impact of NDSS, Approved Document M (Cats 1, 2, and 3), and other Building Regulations and Planning Requirements on urban design.
3. Promote the preferred house types, communicate their value, and incorporate feedback from internal teams and external customers for continuous improvement.
4. Manage site-specific variations, advising designers on potential improvements.
5. Facilitate urban design criteria to ensure best practice in site layout plotting, including management of Plotting Books.
6. Participate in the Site Layout Review process, providing early critique of site layout designs.
7. Support placemaking initiatives aligned with BFHL principles.
8. Guide biodiversity proposals to achieve Biodiversity Net Gain where required.
9. Oversee the commissioning of CGI images and marketing materials for house and apartment designs.
10. Protect, enhance, and differentiate the brand from competitors.
11. Present at internal and external conferences, functions, and workshops.
Skills and experience required:
1. Experience in the housebuilding industry.
2. Qualification in Urban Design, Architectural Technology, or equivalent experience.
3. Creative placemaking design skills.
4. Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
5. Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD/Revit.
6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
7. Proficient IT skills (Office, Word, Excel).
8. Full UK driving license.
