Pay and hours
Shift Leader rate of pay starts from £14.76 an hour; this increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location. It is our policy to offer new colleagues joining us a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week; if you would like to work fewer hours (to a minimum of 12) we have opportunities for this too.
Contract and flexibility
We will schedule your contracted hours within the specified availability window and provide 3 weeks notice of shifts. We support flexibility for colleagues; if your available times closely match but do not exactly match the advertised times, we would still love to hear from you.

Customers are at the heart of everything we do. A Shift Leader helps run the store, oversee daily operations from the shop floor, and work to make things better for customers, colleagues and communities every day.
Responsibilities (Shift Leader)
* Work in a fast-paced retail environment with variety
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well-stocked store that exceeds customer expectations
* Be available for customers, listening to them and helping them leave the store with what they came for
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback to the team
* Guide and support colleagues in-store, ensuring it stays a safe place to work and shop
* Maintain understanding of store performance and assist managers in delivering actions to improve operations
* Lead from the front and set a positive example for colleagues

Responsibilities and requirements
* Coordinating the store team to deliver an easy, fuss-free shopping experience
* Supporting colleagues and ensuring priorities are met with appropriate breaks
* Opening and closing the store and completing duty cover with safety in mind
* Acting as the point of contact for colleagues in the absence of a manager
* Maintaining store cleanliness, tidiness and presentation
* Assisting with seasonal, community and charity events
* Fostering an inclusive team atmosphere and delivering great customer service
* Keeping the team informed of communications and updates
* Staying knowledgeable about store performance and seeking improvements
* Coordinating store improvements and removing obstacles to service
* Following health and safety procedures and ensuring colleagues do the same
* Recognising and celebrating colleagues providing great service
