Clinical Lead ADHD Practitioner - Adult Services
An exciting opportunity hasbecome available at Crofton & Sharlston Medical Practice. We have recently launcheda service to provide ADHD assessments and treatment within the West Yorkshireregion. We are recruiting aClinical Lead ADHD Practitioner toincrease our clinical workforce.
We are a specialist ADHD diagnosis and treatment clinic operatingthroughout Yorkshire region. Weare more than a diagnosis service, we provide bespoke assessment and treatmentpackages that are aimed at helping patients reach their full potential. As anintegral part of our organisation, The ADHD Clinician (non-medical prescriber)will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments, formulating andmonitoring treatment plans. You will possess a strong understanding ofevidence-based practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability towork independently in a remote setting, providing essential services toindividuals seeking support for ADHD.
Main duties of the job
The role of Clinical Lead within the service is multifaceted, requiringa balance of leadership skills, clinical expertise and a commitment tomaintaining the delivery of high-quality care. As a pivotal member of the team,you will play a key role in leading and supporting a group of dedicated clinicians,ensuring the effective functioning of the clinical team, the safe delivery of care, and excellent patient experience.
In your role as Clinical Lead, you will be expected to role model thebehaviours and values of our organisation whilst demonstrating your clinicalresponsibilities and specialised skills as an ADHD Practitioner. This requiresyou to be an independent / supplementary Prescriber, supporting patientsthroughout their treatment pathway which will include the triage, assessment,diagnosis and where appropriate treatment.
As a clinical lead you will be expected to be able to demonstrateexcellent knowledge and skills in ADHD clinical delivery. You will supportstaff with medically complex cases and at least one area of clinicalspeciality.

Job responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervision of the ADHD clinical team- Oversee and support the clinicalwork of team members, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatorystandards. This includes providing 1:1 Supervision, Supervised Assessments andClinical Audit.
Conduct regular team drop ins to discuss cases, share knowledge, andaddress challenges. You will be the teams point of contact to discuss clinicalissues including differential diagnoses, medical concerns and prescribing. Thiswill provide an opportunity to ensure a unified approach to patient care,ensuring consistency across the ADHD service.
To be responsible for the clinical induction and coaching of all newstaff within your team, supported by the wider programme of onboarding withinthe organisation, and to provide support to the clinician throughout theprobationary period as required
Experience of overseeing & managing mental health risk &/orsafeguarding concerns raised by your team. This must include the ability tocontain and support so they can carry out their role efficiently and promote aculture of safe management of risk. You will be the first point of contact forsupport regarding the management of risk providing advice and guidance andensuring adherence to the relevant legislative and legal requirements.
In the absence of the Practice Manager, you will be the point of contactfor your team members to report and record clinical incidents, taking allnecessary actions to ensure the immediate safety of patients, their familiesand staff.
You will have the ability and willingness to hold productive, butchallenging conversations, and follow formal processes in collaboration withthe Practice Manager where team members are not meeting clinical expectationsor quality standards. You will be responsible for supporting the clinicalelement of a team members performance improvement plan.
You will also complete a range of patient safety incident reviews andinvestigations at the instruction of the GP Partners and Management Team. Youwill be required to analyse and interpret a range of facts and situations andmake appropriate recommendations to learn from the findings of the incident.
You will be required to deliver whole team training sessions, thecontent of which will be determined by both themes from serious incidentreports, emerging themes from frequently asked questions at clinical drop insessions and post ADHD Academy extended learning.
You will possess well-developed skills in the ability to communicateeffectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinicallysensitive information to patients, their families, carer and other professionalcolleagues both within and outside of the organisation.
You will undertake deep dives, clinical supervision sessions, observedassessments and follow ups of your designated team of clinicians.
To take responsibility for own continuous professional development,maintaining a sound level of professional knowledge and competence in line withprofessional development plan agreed at annual appraisal.
In addition to your Clinical Lead role, you will be required to meet therequirements of the ADHD Practitioner Job description as outlined below:
Assess adults for ADHD, considering differential and/or co-occurringconditions to make diagnostic decisions.
You will practice as a non-medical prescriber (independent/supplementaryprescribing) to develop and implement treatment and titration plans, ensuringphysical observations are obtained and reviewed.
You will support the patient throughout their treatment journey,conducting regular follow ups under yourcare until they have reached stability and optimisation.
Perform patient risk assessments and review safeguarding needs inconjunction with treatment strategies during the patient journey.
Responsibility for ensuring that the prescription is written as perlegal requirements for controlled and non-controlled drugs
Maintain accurate and timely client records on Systm1 and associatedclinical templates, adhering to professional requirements for accurate recordkeeping, and the recording of prescriptions in accordance with practice policy.
Demonstrate a clear understanding and adherence to security in relationto prescription security and management.
You will be responsible for recognising and reporting clinical Incidentsand near misses to support the culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Person Specification
Experience
* Qualified nurse, current UK registration and PIN with the NMC, Pharmacy Practitioner with GPhC registration, Medic on GMC Register without practice restrictions (Essential)
* To work unsupervised and independently within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, or GPHc Standards. (Essential)
* Experience managing and supervising staff, including dealing with organisational change, conflict management and performance management. (Essential)
* Experience of participation in Clinical Governance processes including Clinical Audit, prioritising patient safety and quality.
* Demonstrable ability to connect with and provide support for children and/ or Adults
* Familiarity with EPR systems
* Willingness to learn and follow clinics standards of practice
* Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
* Sufficient IT skills to be able to undertake a remote post with virtual assessments.
* Ability to work alongside others within a multi-disciplinary team setting.
* Professional approach consistent with regulatory body expectations
* Excellent time management and ability to manage own workload
* Specialist ADHD Nurse/ Pharmacist with experience (Desirable)
* Expert level of understanding of the pharmaceutical treatment options for ADHD (Desirable)
* Qualified Medical or Non-medical Prescriber (NMP) with current registration (Desirable)

Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse, Adult Nurse or Paediatric Nurse, or Clinical Psychologist or other appropriately qualified Healthcare Professional. (2 years post qualifying)
