Protocol Education is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Newham, and we’d love to hear from you! This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in a student’s educational journey, working 1:1 with a young person who has complex needs, including autism and behavioural challenges. Your support will help them thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a safe, structured, and inclusive environment. What You’ll Be Doing Delivering 1:1 tailored support to a student with additional needs, ensuring consistency and care throughout the school day. Assisting with personal care and hygiene routines when required. Following Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavioural strategies to meet the student’s specific learning needs. Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation through empathy, patience, and consistency. Collaborating closely with teachers, SENCOs, and external specialists to ensure holistic student development. Using de-escalation techniques and positive reinforcement to manage challenging behaviours. Promoting engagement and inclusion during lessons and classroom activities. What We’re Looking For Experience working with SEND pupils, especially those with autism and behavioural needs. A calm, patient, and resilient attitude with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners. Excellent communication skills to work effectively with pupils, staff, and families. Willingness to assist with personal care when necessary. A strong belief in inclusive education and a desire to make a meaningful impact.
