Overview
Immigration Paralegal
We are looking to recruit a Paralegal to join our employment and immigration department, with a focus on business immigration and working largely in the healthcare sector (including dental and veterinary). The principal objective of this team is to help businesses make the most of their staff. Our immigration team is recognised as one of the largest immigration teams in the UK, outside of London. Learn more about our Business Immigration team on our website. Birmingham would be the ideal location for this role, but the team also works across Worcester, Leamington, Hereford and Central England (Northampton); this role could be based in any of these locations (providing you are also willing to travel to Birmingham when required). Birmingham is a vibrant office, and social among both colleagues and clients.
This will be a hands-on role, where you will be given responsibility and independence (where appropriate) over your work, and involves undertaking routine legal tasks.
Responsibilities
* Undertaking legal research, using appropriate methods and sourcing, presenting the results in an accurate and timely manner.
* Drafting legal documents using appropriate precedents and templates.
* Ensure all work complies with risk management policies and procedures, in line with GDPR.
* Providing legal support to multiple fee earners within the team.
* Monitoring deadlines for the team, to ensure work is completed in a timely manner.
* Undertaking legal processes, under supervision, such as routine file management (including opening and billing).
* Take an active role with the Paralegal and Trainee (PT) group and attend networking events or careers fairs.
* Take an active part in promoting the firm and department through social media channels such as LinkedIn, X and Facebook.
* Producing legal updates for the team and articles on current legal topics.
Qualifications
* Legal qualification, preferably post LPC or working towards (or equivalent).
* Professional experience within business immigration would be highly preferable; we would also consider candidates with personal immigration working experience. For this position, graduate candidates without immigration work experience won’t be suitable for this role.
* Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
* Ability to work as an effective member of a team and to offer support to peers where required.
* Client service focused.
* IT literacy and accurate typing capability.
* Excellent organisational capability with attention to detail in all aspects of your work.
