2026 Graduate Programme - Environment - Geotechnical Engineering
We are recruiting graduates to join our Geotechnics & Tunnelling teams who specialise in characterising ground conditions, identifying ground risk and producing low carbon designs to mitigate those risks. You’ll contribute to transformative projects across renewable energy, infrastructure, housing, marine, tunnelling, commercial developments and healthcare, gaining hands-on experience throughout the project life cycle with opportunities for site work and travel within the UK, Ireland, and occasionally overseas.
Locations: Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Bristol, Hertford, London, Guildford, Southampton & Exeter and UK wide.
Responsibilities
* Work as a Graduate in our Geotechnics & Tunnelling team on innovative projects across a broad range of clients, sectors and scales.
* Collaborate with planners, structural and civil engineers to support early planning through construction and into inspection and rehabilitation of facilities.
* Be embedded in multidisciplinary teams and mentored by experienced engineers; contribute to real-world challenges with innovative solutions.
* Day-to-day activities may include producing ground models using digital tools, learning foundation and ground improvement techniques, field data collection, and design support.
* Assist in the design of foundations, retaining walls, slopes, and other geotechnical structures; and prepare geotechnical reports, risk assessments, drawings and design documentation.
Graduate Development Programme
Two-year programme designed to support personal and professional development through blended learning, core business and professional skills training, networking opportunities, mentoring for professional registration and on-the-job experiences. We encourage chartered status with bodies such as ICE and CGeol or IOM3, with support for training agreements.
What we look for
* Graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject.
* Interest in Geology and Engineering Geology and how these disciplines apply to Civil engineering projects.
* Collaborative mindset, willingness to learn, and desire to solve problems.
* Able to travel occasionally for site work and share knowledge of geology and ground conditions in the UK.
* Good understanding of soil and rock mechanics and an entrepreneurial, curious approach.
