About the role

We’re looking for someone who shares our enthusiasm to take up a role within Information Systems Services (ISS), as a Senior IT Engineer as part of the ISS Campus IT team. ISS supports a range of exciting projects and IT services for staff and students at the University.
The ISS Campus IT Team at Lancaster University provides high‑quality IT support services to approximately 16,000 students and 4,000 staff, through the delivery of second‑line support based teams across campus. This role coordinates the day‑to‑day operations of a team of IT Engineers providing technical support, advice and preventative maintenance in support of the University’s teaching, research and administrative functions. This includes support of IT and Audio Visual equipment in a variety of learning spaces.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and implement maintenance and installation work, including agreed changes and maintenance routines.
* Use management tools to determine load and performance statistics, identify operational problems and contribute to their resolution, ensuring they are managed in accordance with agreed standards and procedures.
* Provide reports and proposals for improvement to specialists, users and service managers.
* Coordinate day‑to‑day operations of the IT engineering team.
Requirements
* Experience working in a team‑based IT service environment.
* Strong IT, Audio Visual and problem‑solving skills with a user‑focus to ensure excellent service to the user community.
* Full, clean driving licence desirable.
* Occasional out‑of‑hours work and weekends may be required in support of events.
