Health and Safety Manager
Lead Health & Safety across two UK sites, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. The role reports directly to the Head of HR and includes line‑management of two Facilities Team members.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead all aspects of health and safety across both sites.
* Design, develop and implement internal policy, ensuring employee awareness.
* Conduct audits, report findings and recommend actions to the Operations Board monthly.
* Carry out accident/near‑miss investigations and report findings to the Operations Board.
* Deliver Toolbox Talks on high‑risk activities.
* Identify hazards, create and review risk assessments and RAMS.
* Keep up to date with health, safety & welfare legislation and communicate changes.
* Develop and implement safe operational procedures within the existing H&S framework.
* Lead in‑house training for managers and employees on health and safety.
* Maintain inspection records and produce improvement reports.
* Collaborate with external consultants to advance sustainability priorities.
* Produce newsletters and bulletins communicating relevant information.
* Ensure safe installation of equipment.
* Support safe receipt, storage, handling and disposal of hazardous substances.
* Lead specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
* Manage maintenance, security, compliance and upgrades/alterations at both sites.
* Line‑manage the facilities team: time management, setting objectives and conducting annual appraisals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
* Extensive experience in a similar health and safety role.
* NEBOSH qualification or equivalent experience.
* Extensive knowledge of HSE and sustainability legislation.
* Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
* Ability to work autonomously, setting and managing priorities.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Relevant engineering industry experience is desirable.
* High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site travel.
