About the role
The Development Scientist plays a crucial role in advancing new product development for our global Oral Health brands. This position involves formulating and analysing solid, semi‑solid, liquid and other Oral Health products adhering to medical device, drug product and cosmetic regulations. The Development Scientist will be engaged at various stages of the development process, contributing to innovative and consumer‑focused solutions.
Key responsibilities
* Independently design experiments and carry out scientific work with an awareness of state‑of‑the‑art technology.
* Maintain precise experimental records; issue reports at project milestones and write invention records to protect scientific discoveries.
* Efficiently manage own time to meet project deadlines and milestones.
* Demonstrate problem‑solving ability using innovative thought and good scientific judgment; utilise problem‑solving tools to support, identify, analyse and provide solutions to technical challenges and obstacles.
* Understand consumer insights and align technology with consumer needs to identify potential opportunities for creating appealing consumer propositions.
* Ensure all work is conducted in compliance with regulatory and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) requirements; contribute to departmental quality documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), batch documentation, manufacturing protocols and reports, product specifications and development reports.
Qualifications and skills
Essential
Technical knowledge and practical laboratory experience in formulation and/or analytical development / method validation.
Preferred
* Critical thinking, data analysis, experimental design, technical proficiency, attention to detail and collaboration.
* Awareness of relevant regulations (medical device, drug product, cosmetic).
Minimum Level of Education Required
Bachelor Science degree or equivalent.
Area of Specialisation - Required
* Chemistry, biochemistry or related science discipline.
