Job Description:
Birmingham Airport is the UK’s seventh largest with 30 airlines serving over 120 destinations direct and onwards to over 400. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, 13 million customers a year flew in and out of BHX. Going forward, we project growth to more than 18 million customers a year by 2033. By then, we will be connected to central London by HS2 trains in just 37 minutes and aim to have become a net zero carbon airport.
Our purpose is: Proud of Every Journey. That means everyone at the airport and the 100 organizations operating on the airport site, taking pride in getting customers safely, punctually, and comfortably from A to B.
We create a kind, values-driven environment where everyone feels empowered to bring their best to work. Our seven pillars—Growth, Customer, Neighbour, Efficiency, People, Safety & Security, and Carbon—support our strategic goals. Our values—Curious, Dedicated, Inclusive, Respectful & Supportive—guide how our colleagues treat each other as we serve customers with safety & security as our top priority.
Main Purpose & Scope of Role: Reporting to Civils and Estates Manager to ensure the provision of a safe, cost-effective, and efficient Civil and Estates Infrastructure across the airport site. The role involves facilitating maintenance of Civils and Estates Infrastructure including runway and manoeuvring area pavements, roads, pavements, street furniture, grounds maintenance, walkways, pedestrian crossings, car parks, and fencing.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: Support the management of staff and contractors responsible for operation, repair, and maintenance of Civils and Estates assets and services. Support contractor management, inspections, documentation, maintenance tasks, quality checks, asset management, contract administration, and budget management. Use engineering drawings, support infrastructure development, provide technical advice, carry out planned maintenance, monitor contractor performance, supervise resources, and ensure proper documentation and administrative duties, including procurement and system integration.
General Responsibilities: Build relationships with stakeholders, deputize for the Civil and Estates Manager, promote an open culture, provide customer relations and training, and support the development of airport facilities.
Qualifications, Capabilities & Experience: Minimum of a HND in Civil Engineering, with at least 2 years' experience in large, complex facilities. Experience in the Airport or Highways Sector is desirable. Flexibility to perform other duties as required.
