Job Summary
Performs diversified and complex tasks associated with tool fabrication/Machining required in the development of composite components, assemblies, bonded parts and other miscellaneous accessories. The Tool Maker Machinist will support operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing superior engineering and problem-solving skills. They will deliver robust, capable process technology as it applies to both materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
Job Responsibilities
1. Recommend design changes to manufacturing operations
2. Work with manufacturing and engineering personnel to resolve technical tooling issues
3. Develop new types and methods of tooling
4. Use precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
5. Knowledge of welding practices and equipment (MIG, stick, torch, brazing; TIG desirable)
6. Knowledge of manual and CNC machining setup, safety, and practices
7. Troubleshoot tooling failures independently
8. Create or modify simple tooling sketches for engineering review
9. Intermediate GD&T interpretation
10. Understanding of heat‑treating basics
11. Participate in and sometimes lead root cause and corrective action activities
12. Understand cost drivers in tooling design and repair
13. Maintain integrity within processes and documentation
14. Contribute to process improvement and cost reduction
15. Be well‑versed in shop floor processes and flow
16. Work effectively cross‑functionally to solve problems
17. Work in different areas as needed
18. Maintain working knowledge of customer specifications
19. Mentor Tool Maker 1 and 2 employees
Job Qualifications
20. Manual & CNC Machining Experience
21. Familiar with Composite Tool Manufacturing
22. U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance
