Are you an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer with a passion for cutting-edge technology and clean energy innovation?
Do you thrive in hands-on roles where your precision and technical expertise directly impact mission-critical systems?
If so, this is your opportunity to join one of the UK's most advanced research facilities at the forefront of nuclear fusion energy-an organisation delivering world-class engineering solutions in remote and hazardous environments.
About the Role:
Working within a highly specialist team focused on Remote Applications in Challenging Environments (RACE), you'll be responsible for the testing and commissioning of complex electrical systems, ensuring the highest standards of quality, functionality, and safety.
You'll lead on testing hardware and field wiring for remote handling installations-think custom-built control panels, heavy plant, and complex harness systems. This isn't just bench-testing-you'll be the go-to on the ground, supporting installations both in the UK and internationally.
Expect variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to be at the very heart of groundbreaking energy research.
Key Responsibilities:
* Commission and test high-spec electrical control systems, wiring, and installations.
* Ensure compliance with site-specific safety and operational standards.

* Provide task supervision and technical guidance within the electrical team.
* Support commissioning activities on-site and at international partner locations when required.
What We're Looking For:
* Qualifications:
* Completed a time-served advanced apprenticeship in electrical installation/testing.
* A formal qualification above NVQ Level 3-HNC, HND, or a BEng in Electrical Engineering is highly desirable.
* Experience:
* Demonstrable hands-on experience installing and testing complex electrical systems.
* Proficiency in interpreting and working from electrical schematics and general assembly drawings.
* Comfortable working in safety-critical environments with an awareness of best practice.
* Previous supervision or mentoring experience would be an advantage.
* Desirable:
* Experience working within an electrical commissioning team, ideally in automation or control systems.
* Ability to create test documentation and commissioning procedures from scratch.
