About the Role East Lothian Council’s Vehicle and Plant Maintenance Unit is seeking a Skilled Vehicle Mechanic to join our dedicated team. You will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of a diverse fleet, including LGV, PSV, specialist vehicles, and cars, ensuring high standards of safety and reliability. Annual leave entitlement – starting at 20 days, rising with service. Public holidays off – 8 days per year. What We’re Looking For Time-served craft operative or equivalent qualification (City & Guilds, SVQ Level 3). Experience in vehicle maintenance and repair across a range of vehicles. Knowledge of health and safety standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Job Details To repair and maintain all vehicles in the Council Fleet including LGV, PSV, Specialist equipment, Light Goods and Cars. Work to be undertaken primarily in a purpose built workshop at Macmerry Industrial Estate or elsewhere as required. To assist with items of plant when required. Job Requirements Relevant Qualifications Any of the following or equivalent: Time served Craft Operative in appropriate trade. Time served modern apprenticeship. Relevant City and Guilds Certificate. SVQ level 3 and passed skills test. Driving Licence A full current driving licence is essential to carry out the duties of this post. Current LGV Driving Licence (or willing to achieve within specified timescale).
