Role
We are hiring a Stirling/Alloa Community Organiser
Living Rent is expanding across Scotland. We are looking for a community organiser in Stirling/Alloa to support members in building community power and advocating for change locally and nationally. You will work with Scottish organisers to develop and support branches in Stirling/Alloa.
The role involves outreach, recruiting members, supporting meetings, and helping members organize around issues such as flooding and climate change, aiming to make neighborhoods more resilient and advocate for residents.
Responsibilities include researching issues, campaign planning, organizing direct actions, negotiating with landlords and authorities, and recruiting members to build power across Scotland.
We seek someone passionate about social justice, with experience in recruitment, community education, or campaigns preferred but not essential. Enthusiasm and willingness to learn are more important. The role may suit someone from sales, street fundraising, or customer service backgrounds looking to move into organizing.
This position reports to the Living Rent democratic structures and is line-managed by the Wider Scotland Head Organiser. Working hours are primarily Monday to Friday, 11am-7pm, with some evenings and weekends required. Flexibility is essential.
The role is funded by the National Lottery Climate Fund.
Living Rent is a Living Wage employer committed to diversity, equality, and supporting staff development. Reasonable adjustments are provided as needed.
