My client is seeking an experienced and visionary leader to provide dynamic strategic and operational direction to a major Environment, Sustainability and Planning (ESP) business unit.
This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape the future of a highly respected consultancy and to play a pivotal role in achieving operational, strategic, and financial goals in line with the business's long-term vision.
The role reports to the Managing Director of the ESP business unit.
The Role:
* Lead ESP operations, ensuring delivery of agreed annual and medium-term plans, KPIs, targets, project delivery, and compliance.
* Oversee the bid and proposal process, ensuring efficiency and strategic alignment. Be a core member of the ESP Leadership Team, contributing to business planning, budgets, sector and regional strategies, and business development.
* Manage project delivery, commercial management, resourcing, and risk management across ESP. Lead and develop a team of operational colleagues, with a focus on succession planning, coaching, and professional growth.
* Build and maintain strong client and partner relationships, enhancing market presence and reputation.
* Champion innovation, digital adoption, safety, and continuous improvement across the business unit.
* Contribute as a fee earner, while also driving growth and diversification of services.
About You:
* My client is looking for a commercially astute and collaborative leader with: Significant senior-level experience in the environmental consultancy sector, with a strong track record of technical and strategic delivery.
* Exceptional leadership, organisational and planning skills, with proven ability to manage and inspire professional teams. Experience securing and delivering major projects from inception to completion.
* Strong financial management and commercial awareness. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
* Professional qualification at a senior level, ideally chartered and a full member of a relevant institution.
* A deep understanding of: The environmental consulting sector and market drivers Governance, compliance, and operating procedures Legislative and regulatory developments in infrastructure and the built environment
