Job Description
The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.
We are looking for a Business Analyst to work within the Application Solutions team.
The successful candidate will be required to work to with Waterfall, Iterative, Agile and Continuous Delivery principles, support multi-disciplinary teams to elicit, analyse, communicate and validate Stakeholder’s needs to support and improve their product or service.
In order to do this you must be able to demonstrate experience in the following specific duties:
Capture, validate & document business functional and non-functional requirements. This may include the creation of business models (e.g. As Is and To Be process maps, data mapping) drawing on input from specialist colleagues within the programme
Elicit and elaborate user stories for a product backlog ensuring they are to the correct level of detail, are testable and include acceptance criteria
Support business and technical stakeholders to visualise requirements with user story and journey mapping
Take part in prototypes and discovery exercises to validate hypothesis while establishing the core user stories for product / service with stakeholders
Take part in project ceremonies including daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Provide guidance and support to all phases of testing including warranty phase of project
Support the Scrum team to plan and improve their ways of working through retrospectives;
Work as a member or a Business Analysis team supporting other BA colleagues with ways of working, knowledge transfer & development of the role
Potentially, take the role of Proxy Product Owner on behalf of business area
Follow best practice guidelines and help to improve those guidelines
Additionally, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
Proven practitioner at communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
Have experience in directing IT- enabled business change including business process change, requirements gathering and systems analysis.
Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 8 (HND or SVQ4) or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for the role (BCS Business Analysis Diploma or equivalent qualification/experience)
