About the job
Reporting to the Regional Manager, this role will take responsibility for ensuring all day-to-day station operations are delivered to the highest standards. The role involves ensuring regional performance and safety plans are in place, meeting key milestones, managing colleague rostering, and working on data-driven improvements. The post also includes contingency planning, supporting the overall operations strategy, budget management, and being part of an on-call roster.
Your main responsibilities will be:
1. Planning
2. Plan operational tasks at a regional level, considering risks and opportunities
3. Support budget planning and forecasting
4. Create and ensure timely delivery of operational project plans
5. Identify risks and support safety validation for local projects
KPIs and Compliance
1. Review compliance activities and ensure standards are met
2. Support local Station Managers in compliance adherence
3. Own regional safety and performance plans, report progress
4. Manage regional performance and safety targets, communicate effectively
Efficiency and Process
1. Manage the Regional Support Clerk team for efficiency
2. Maximize budget opportunities and drive efficiencies
3. Lead manpower planning and recruitment
4. Review and improve local processes
5. Coach regional team for better delivery
6. Maintain contingency plans
Leadership and Delivery
1. Present operational data to stakeholders
2. Provide operational support and advice
3. Hold peers accountable for performance
4. Share best practices with neighboring regions
5. Enhance operational culture integrating safety and performance
6. Deliver operational tasks and represent the Regional Manager
Minimum requirements include:
1. Good education with numeracy skills
2. Relevant operational experience
3. Strong IT skills and adaptability
4. Ability to work independently and in teams, adapt to priorities
5. Excellent communication, presentation, influencing skills
6. Data analysis and planning ability
7. Strong organizational skills
8. Leadership and motivational skills
9. Broad railway operational knowledge (preferred but not essential)
Working Pattern
Average of 18.50 hours/week over 3 days, 10 days over 4 weeks with varying daily schedules.
