About the Role
The Footcare Team Leader plays a pivotal role in delivering, coordinating, and developing Age UK NSWD's non-surgical footcare service. The postholder will combine hands-on clinical practice with team leadership, ensuring the service runs smoothly, efficiently, and in line with our mission to support older people.
In addition to providing high-quality footcare, the Team Leader will manage and support a team of practitioners, oversee bookings and clinic operations, and ensure compliance, safeguarding, and data reporting standards are consistently met. This role is central to expanding and sustaining a trusted, income-generating service that improves health outcomes and reduces social isolation.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
* Provide non-surgical footcare services (e.g. toenail cutting, preventative care, skin management) to a high clinical standard.
* Promote the footcare service and other Age UK NSWD offerings to clients.
* Support positive client experience, reducing isolation through engagement and signposting to wider services.
* Oversee delivery against agreed activity and income targets, working with the Head of Operations to regularly review performance.
Team Leadership & Management
* Line manage footcare practitioners, providing regular supervisions, training, and support.
* Oversee rota planning, leave approvals, and recruitment of new team members.
* Act as the first point of contact for escalated queries and service issues.
* Encourage a collaborative, supportive team culture that prioritises quality and client care.
Operations & Administration
* Manage appointment booking systems and associated administrative processes.
* Monitor stock, equipment, and clinic resources, ensuring efficient use across multiple sites.
* Ensure accurate service data is collected and reported, producing KPI and performance reports.
* Work with Head of Operations to plan service growth and efficiency improvements.
Compliance & Quality
* Ensure safeguarding, GDPR, Health & Safety, and infection control requirements are fully met.
* Lead risk assessments for clinics and ensure policies are followed consistently.
* Support compliance audits and maintain accurate records in line with charity standards.
* Handle any complaints relating to the service, lead any required investigations and compile reports accordingly.
Promotion & Representation
* Promote the service internally and externally, cross-selling Age UK NSWD services where appropriate.
* Represent the service in internal meetings and external forums/networks.
Person Specification
Essential
* Level 3 Foot Health Practitioner or equivalent qualification.
* Experience in delivering footcare or similar personal care services, preferably in a clinic environment.
* Proven leadership or supervisory experience.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Good IT skills including MS Office and booking/database systems.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites.
* Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.
Desirable
* Experience working in a charity or non-profit environment.
* Knowledge of local health and wellbeing services.
* Experience in service development or quality improvement projects.
