Job Description:
SJC Partners is currently managing the recruitment process for the hire of an Acquisition Search Director into an innovative mergers and acquisitions deal sourcing business.
Our client specialises in sourcing off-market businesses for acquisition by private equity investors, PE-backed companies, listed businesses, and some private companies.
Businesses wishing to acquire or invest in other companies engage our client to undertake a bespoke acquisition search process, uncovering target businesses within their specific criteria and facilitating introductions. Companies rely on our client to have thorough commercial conversations with business owners, quickly understanding different business models and building trust with target businesses.
The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end client management in the following areas:
* Agreeing the scope of the acquisition search with clients at board level.
* Liaising with the research team to identify businesses matching the search criteria. (Research will be conducted by an in-house team.)
* Approaching major shareholders of target businesses and engaging in detailed, highly commercial discussions via video calls to understand their business models, track records, growth plans, financials, and owners’ selling aspirations.
* Presenting potential targets to clients and arranging meetings with selected businesses.
* Managing the acquisition process relationship thereafter (no financial qualifications needed, but commercial acumen is essential).
Applicants should be able to quickly grasp various business models. Experience operating at board level is important, as you will manage relationships with owners/CEOs, often involving large corporates, private equity firms, and private equity-backed companies.
Given the unique nature of this role, candidates from diverse commercial backgrounds will be considered. The current team includes individuals who have run their own businesses or operated at Director level.
This role offers a competitive salary with an attractive, transparent bonus structure paid multiple times a year based on deal activity. Bonuses are uncapped, and in a good year, it’s possible to earn bonuses totaling 100% of your salary or more.
