Are you ready to take your legal career to new heights and have the opportunity to develop your knowledge in a fast paced and diverse role, providing a variety of services including litigation support? In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Council's litigation service. You'll handle a varied and often complex caseload, represent the Council in County Court and Magistrate Court proceedings, and play a key role in ensuring the Council delivers a responsive, trusted and customer focused in‑house legal service.
The diversity of casework includes but is not limited to housing possessions, anti-social behaviour, debt recovery, commercial property litigations, fly-tipping, licensing matters and planning enforcement. This role will provide you with excellent flexibility and the opportunity to work three out of five days from home.
You will have post qualification experience in litigation work, with excellent knowledge of court proceedings, have strong advocacy skills and the ability to communicate legal issues both verbally and written with clarity and confidence. You should also be comfortable with managing complex workloads with exceptional efficiency, supporting colleagues, building rapport with a wide variety of people and working in a fast‑paced environment are all essential skills. Experience of working within a local government environment is desirable but not essential. What matters is conscientiousness, good work ethic, self-motivation, sound judgement and professionalism.
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English is essential in this post.
