About The Role
National Grid Interconnectors is at the heart of the UK’s transition to a net zero energy future. We operate a number of HVDC Interconnectors that connect the UK’s energy system to some of our closest neighbours, allowing energy to be imported to and exported from the UK. As well as already owning a portfolio of HVDC Interconnectors, we’re working on developing new projects to ensure that we are able to meet the UK’s future demands for greener energy solutions.
We are currently recruiting for a Senior Regulatory Lead within National Grid Ventures.
As a Senior Regulatory Lead you will lead the development of our positions on how interconnectors can continue to be a central piece of the net zero energy transition while ensuring that our operational business continues to meet its regulatory obligations. You will also be responsible for communicating and agreeing these positions with numerous opportunities to present your work to senior internal and external stakeholders, including government officials, regulators and other influential people across industry.
This role is hybrid with our base office in Warwick, with an expectation to be in the office up to twice a week.
What you’ll do
* Develop, lead and influence our positions on specific government and regulatory policy areas impacting our interconnectors.
* Determine future requirements for interconnection and identify projects that can be constructed to meet this requirement.
* Collaborate with partners and stakeholders across Great Britain and Europe to build a wide network of working relationships inside and outside of National Grid.
* Anticipate and analyse initiatives taken forward by governments and regulators, evaluating the implications on our interconnectors.
* Deliver insight and analysis, working with internal and external stakeholders to build convincing support for your proposals.
* Compose high‑quality written submissions for key external decision makers, including regulators and government.
Requirements
* Well organised.
* Strong analytical thinker capable of processing complex information.
* Ability to quickly identify key issues, develop an appropriate way forward and convince others of its benefits.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior audiences.
* Good attention to detail, given the financial and reputational value of the work involved.
What you’ll get
£55,000.00 – £65,000.00 – dependent on capability.
