We are seeking an experienced and driven Director of Construction to lead the end-to-end delivery of utility-scale solar PV projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in large-scale renewable energy construction, particularly solar PV, with a proven ability to manage project execution, oversee construction activities, and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including procurement, engineering, and investment teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the full lifecycle construction and delivery of utility-scale solar PV projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
* Oversee and manage EPC contractors, subcontractors, and construction teams across multiple sites.
* Work closely with the procurement team to evaluate, select, and manage key suppliers and vendors, ensuring alignment with technical and commercial requirements.
* Collaborate with the investment team during project due diligence and acquisition processes, providing expert input on construction feasibility, risk, and budget.
* Develop and maintain construction budgets, timelines, and risk assessments, with regular reporting to senior leadership.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
* Provide leadership to internal construction teams and contribute to strategic growth planning across the portfolio.
* Implement robust project management methodologies and continuously drive process improvement and value engineering initiatives.
Requirements:
* Extensive experience in the construction and delivery of utility-scale solar PV projects (50MW+ preferred).
* Strong understanding of EPC contract structures and project delivery models.
* Proven track record managing complex, multi-site renewable energy projects across the UK or Europe.
* Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with procurement, legal, engineering, and investment teams.
* Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and leadership skills.
* Engineering or construction-related degree preferred; project management qualifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2) are a plus.
* Willingness to travel as required.
