Job summary: Due to the expansion of our service operating 7 days between the hours of 08:00 to 20:00, we are looking for Band 7 HCPC registered CT Radiographers to join our growing CT team within the general imaging department at St Bartholomew's Hospital.

Key working relationships will be with the Imaging Head of Radiography, CT Lead Radiographer, Radiologists, CT & rotational radiographers, imaging assistants and other clinical and professional staff.


Responsibilities

* Participate in effective and safe running of the CT department and perform a wide range of specialist CT scans in the extended hours 7‑day service.
* Supervise/line manage band 6 radiographers, imaging assistants, students, and visitors to the CT department.
* Manage patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of outpatients and in‑patients.
* Engage in prompt protocoling, checking of conditional devices, liaison with radiologists and other clinicians to unblock barriers to scanning.
* Ensure the delivery of high‑quality patient care and experience, deal with and diffuse potential complaints to improve patient and carer satisfaction.
* Lead and support continuous improvements in service delivery and quality within all areas of the CT service.
* Organise and oversee training of radiographers and students in all aspects of CT scanning, including competency assessments.
* Develop staff culture focused on continuous improvement, set realistic objectives and provide motivation and performance management.


Main duties

* Serve as a specialist diagnostic practitioner in CT, responsible for variable caseload including Cardiac and General CT.
* Carry out appropriate diagnostic procedures for complex conditions.
* Supervise students and junior radiographers in service delivery and personal development.
* Work with CT Managers to promote continuous improvements, modern methods to improve productivity, leading service and workforce transformation.
* Manage work of staff and develop a culture encouraging quality services.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)
* BSc Radiography or DCR
* State Registration
* Formal management training
* IV cannulation or willingness to develop this skill.
Qualifications (Desirable)
* Radiation Protection Supervisor experience
* CT Colon training (in‑house or external)
* Post‑graduate qualification in CT or working towards it.
Experience (Essential)
* NHS CT experience
* Extensive CT scanning experience with a wide range of equipment and techniques.
* Experience of current developing trends in CT service.
* Day‑to‑day operational management.
* Training of other staff or students.
* Participation in Quality Assurance/Clinical Governance initiatives.
* Some personnel management.
Experience (Desirable)
* Experience in research and audit.
* Post‑graduate teaching experience.
* Involvement in implementing change in a service/department.
Knowledge (Essential)
* Booking and capacity planning.
* Portfolio evidence of continuing professional development.
* Understanding of wider NHS issues.
Knowledge (Desirable)
* Knowledge of management theory, risk management and health & safety.
Skills (Essential)
* Organise and prioritise workload; delegate appropriately.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
* Implement change and problem solving.
* Empathetic communication with patients regarding treatment and procedures.
