Design Engineer
Modular Conveyor Systems is growing rapidly and is hiring a Design Engineer to support increasing project demand and free up senior leadership to focus on future innovation. You’ll join a business at an exciting growth stage, working on real engineering challenges with autonomy, trust, and clear progression opportunities. Alongside competitive pay, you’ll benefit from flexible working, modern tools, and the chance to shape designs that go straight into manufacture.
About Modular Conveyor Systems
Modular Conveyor Systems is a fast-growing UK conveyor manufacturer and mechanical installation partner, supporting system integrators across logistics, automation, warehousing, and manufacturing. Founded just three years ago, the business has expanded quickly due to strong customer relationships, high technical standards, and a practical, engineering-led approach.
The team designs and manufactures modular conveyor solutions using Autodesk Inventor, delivering both standardised systems and bespoke layouts tailored to customer requirements. With a move to a significantly larger facility underway and major customers driving increasing project volume, this is a genuinely exciting time to join the business.
The Role – Design Engineer
You’ll take ownership of conveyor system designs from concept through to issued-for-manufacture drawings, working closely with the Managing Director, shop floor team, and project stakeholders. Designs are rarely created from a blank sheet - you’ll work from an established design library and proven concepts, developing them into complete systems ready for build and installation.
You’ll also have the opportunity to influence how designs are standardised, updated, and improved as the business continues to scale.
What You’ll Be Doing
Designing modular conveyor systems using Autodesk Inventor
Developing layouts, assemblies, and full manufacturing drawing packs
Producing clear job packs, BOMs, and assembly documentation
Supporting the shop floor by explaining designs and resolving queries
Updating and improving the standard conveyor design library
Contributing to bespoke or non-standard conveyor projects when required
Working collaboratively in a small, agile engineering team where your input matters
What You’ll Bring
Strong experience using Autodesk Inventor (or similar package) in a mechanical design environment
Background in mechanical design engineering (conveyors or similar sheet metal/mechanical systems beneficial but not essential)
Ability to take a concept or existing design and develop it into a complete, build-ready solution
Practical, solutions-focused mindset with attention to detail
Comfortable working autonomously while collaborating closely with others
Clear communication skills, particularly when supporting production teams
Industry experience is helpful, but strong engineering fundamentals and Inventor capability are the priority.
