Job Description
* Assist and process all specimen types presented to Cellular Pathology for analysis, supporting accurate and timely diagnosis.
* Liaise with staff at all levels to ensure availability of consumables, reagents, chemicals, solvents, and other items required for service delivery.
* Accurately enter data into Trust and departmental information systems.
* Communicate effectively and work as part of a large team.
* Maintain excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity.
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills to meet daily deadlines.
* Previous experience in a diagnostic laboratory is desirable.
* Lab hours: 6 am–7 pm Monday‑Friday; rotational Saturday service 7 am–5 pm (approx. 1 in 5); rotational Bank Holiday service (approx. 1 per annum, excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Good Friday).

* GCSE level A‑C (or equivalent) in Maths, English and Science.
* Keyboard skills.
* Literacy and numeracy.
* Articulate and confident communicator.
* Ability to follow laboratory procedures.

* Flexible working hours as required.
* Calm under pressure.
* Team player with initiative when working independently.
Desirable
* ECDL or equivalent computer knowledge.
* Previous knowledge of hospital IT systems.
* NVQ Level 2 (Clinical Laboratory Support).
* Previous laboratory work experience.
* Previous NHS environment experience.
* Previous laboratory support worker role.
