Job overview
We are seeking an experienced senior research nurse to join the MPN (Myeloproliferative Neoplasm) research team within Oncology and Haematology Clinical Trials (OHCT). This role provides clinical leadership for our expanding research portfolio and supports the team in delivering high-quality research.
The successful candidate will work alongside the Team Lead, identifying suitable patients for clinical trials through clinics and MDT meetings. Responsibilities include supporting the informed consent process, coordinating the patient research pathway from screening to trial closure, and assisting with trial setup prompts.
Applicants must be registered adult nurses with ongoing professional development evidence, clinical research experience within the NHS, and a strong clinical background. Essential skills include excellent communication, multitasking, independence, and managing multiple research studies.
Main duties include
* Managing a large patient caseload autonomously, ensuring care quality.
* Adhering to EU clinical trial directives and ICH GCP standards.
* Screening patients and participating in MDT meetings for trial suitability.
* Supporting informed consent and coordinating the research pathway.
* Minimizing cross-infection risks and supporting trial drug administration.
* Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation.
Working for our organization
OHCT is part of the Haematology Directorate, managing over 200 trials across various malignancies and diseases, including early phase studies within the ECMC.
Additional responsibilities
* Ensuring compliance with trial protocols and regulations.
* Supporting trial setup, data collection, and reporting.
* Leading service development and patient recruitment strategies.
* Participating in research dissemination and professional development activities.
Person specification
Skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
* Dexterity for clinical procedures and laboratory skills.
* Accreditations in SACT/Chemotherapy and ILS.
Experience
* Substantial clinical trials experience, including mentoring.
* Knowledge of UK clinical trial regulations and drug development.
* Leadership and research methodology expertise.
Qualifications
* Degree-level professional knowledge with additional training or courses.
* Post-registration teaching qualification or mentorship course.
* Relevant master's or higher qualification.
