Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. The Role: As a Senior Job Coach, you will: Provide direct coaching to learners with SEND in real workplace settings, using tailored strategies and systematic instruction. Develop and review personalised employability and support plans to promote independence, professionalism, and workplace success. Coordinate meaningful work placements, liaising with employers, families, and external partners to secure outstanding opportunities. Lead and support a team of Job Coaches, managing performance and professional development. Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and learner progress processes are consistently applied. Contribute to innovative projects, social enterprises, and employer-led initiatives that broaden learners horizons. About You: Were looking for someone who is: Experienced in supporting young people with SEND into employment, training, or volunteering. Skilled at working collaboratively with employers, parents, carers, and colleagues to achieve the best outcomes. Organised, proactive, and committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. A strong communicator, able to inspire confidence in learners and employers alike. Essential qualifications/experience include: Minimum Level 2 literacy and numeracy (GCSE Grade C/4 or above). Experience of coaching or supporting young people with SEND in work-based or educational settings. A commitment to safeguarding and to widening participation in employment for people with SEND. Desirable: Level 4 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards Level 5 within 2 years). Training in Systematic Instruction. Experience of running social enterprise projects or employer engagement initiatives. Safeguarding of Children and Vulnerable Adults In line with Keeping Children Safe in Education all employment offers are subject employment checks. These include (some of which are dependent on the role and the individual): Enhanced DBS including Childrens Barred List check, DfE teaching/management Barred List check, on-line searches, overseas criminal record check, evidence of identity and Right to Work in the UK, satisfactory references, confirmation of medical fitness, evidence of relevant qualifications and a check of previous employment history. The College is committed to safeguarding and promotes the welfare of all learners and expects its staff to share this commitment. You will be required to become familiar with the College's policies, and comply with the requirements to safeguard and protect the welfare of children and young people and vulnerable adults.All staff are asked to complete mandatory training in relation to KCSIE and other key areas, and to read the relevant policies.
