Role and Key Responsibilities for Revenue Assistant
* Apply all changes to Council Tax and Business Rates accounts and authorize invoices raised by internal departments.
* Take card payments using industry-standard software.
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Council Tax, Business Rates, and Sundry Debt legislation, internal procedures, and keep fully informed of relevant changes.
* Set up direct debits and handle sensitive financial information confidentially and securely.
* Manage billing exception reports and rebill accounts as necessary.
* Assess and process refunds.
* Establish payment and special payment arrangements following internal processes, and complete financial statements when required.
* Promote online services to residents and assist them in creating accounts and linking these to their Council Tax or Business Rates accounts.
Minimum Requirements for Revenue Assistant
* Knowledge of the Data Protection Act 8, especially GDPR, and its impact on the Revenues Service.
* Understanding of Revenues billing and recovery statutory legislation.
* Experience operating billing, recovery, and invoicing systems.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to work with a high degree of accuracy.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working hours: Monday - Friday
