To work as a research associate (sub-investigator) on several clinical trials being performed in the MRSU, under the supervision of the Consultant Lipid team who are principal investigators (PI).
This is initially expected to be perfomed on one day a week during office hours (Tuesdays) due to pre-existing patient appointments. There is potential for the hours to be worked more flexibly in agreement with the successful applicant/clinical teams involved depending on availability.
Initial duties include completing the training required for onboarding to several clinical trials currently active in the Lipid Clinic to enable the successful candidate to perform the tasks required as sub-investigator.
The sub-investigator role will include, but is not limited to, reviewing patients and completing the required documentation for their trial visits in conjunction with the nurses and trial coordinators on MRSU as required.
The role will include attending the local PI meetings and remaining up-to-date with trial protocols and training. This may include attendance at meetings in and outside of the UK, organised by trial sponsors.
It is expected that the role will include being involved with the initiation of new clinical trials, and as part of this the candidate will be assisting the Lipid Clinic team in searching of Trust/departmental clinical systems to identify potentially eligible patients for screening.
Should flexible working arrangements for research permit, there is the opportunity for the post holder to participate in lipid clinics, and participate in lipid clinic audits and research.
