Are you looking for a new challenge and opportunities in a service at a time of exciting change and development? Our adult ADHD service is looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to develop and implement our new psychological pathways.

This is an opportunity to contribute to new psychological pathways for adults with ADHD as part of an overall redesign of the service. The priority for the new service is to offer a biopsychosocial approach for people diagnosed with ADHD, and prioritise psychological and social interventions as part of the Waiting Well offer for people waiting for assessments. The post holder will be responsible for providing assessment and psychological interventions for people referred to the service, contributing to the development of the new psychological pathways as a part of the psychology team.

We are keen to invest in the development of new practitioners joining our service to enhance their knowledge, skills, clinical practice, leadership and confidence in working in this area. We are therefore looking for applicants who have experience in working with people with ADHD or have a foundation of transferable skills and an interest to develop in this area.

We especially welcome applications from candidates with the valuable experience of the diverse social and cultural communities the Trust serves as we are seeking to ensure our psychology staffing has greater diversity and better represents local communities.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist who is enthusiastic about working with people with ADHD and keen to build up the psychological offer for this group.

In this role, you will complete diagnostic assessments for adults, and contribute to multi-disciplinary diagnostic decision making meetings. You will work closely with colleagues within the MDT as part of the diagnostic assessment pathway and in the post-diagnostic pathway.

You will be responsible for the provision of the new post-diagnostic psychological pathways, which will include group and individual psychological therapy offers. There are exciting opportunities here to develop and evaluate pathways that meet the psychological needs of adults with ADHD, from a variety of backgrounds.

You will be responsible for the supervision of Assistant Psychologists within the team. You will be able to inspire and support your colleagues within a busy service and work closely with the MDT to ensure the provision of high quality assessments and interventions for people accessing the service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·To provide a specialist psychology service to people with ADHD including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.

·To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.

·To provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate.

·To undertake service evaluation, audit and research.

·To work as an autonomous professional within BPS and HCPC guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor
