Part of the wider New Bridge Multi Academy Trust (MAT), New Bridge School is a generic special needs school for pupils and students between the ages of 11 and 16 The school has an Outstanding rated provision which caters for 360 pupils with a wide range of SEND, from moderate learning difficulties to profound and multiple learning difficulties, including severe and complex learning difficulties. The school is popular with families both in Oldham and the surrounding boroughs and our numbers are increasing year on year. We are excited about being able to expand our teaching roles and create new vacancies to meet the needs of our new pupils. The school caters for a wide range of pupils including those with physical disabilities, multisensory impairments, visual impairments, hearing impairments and autism spectrum conditions. Step out of your comfort zone and into New Bridge School; experience of teaching SEN pupils is advantageous but not essential to apply for the role, we can support you to develop the specialist knowledge required to teach our pupils. We are an organisation who are committed to the professional development and well-being of our staff, we aim to support staff to achieve their own meaningful futures alongside our pupils and have established successful progression routes for them. All pupils have an EHC plan. In order to cater to the needs of the range of pupils the school has developed a range of different provisions, including our Key Stage 3 main body, Autism Base, Interactive Base and Communication Groups. Due to growing pupil numbers, the Trustees are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated practitioner to join our dynamic, growing and committed staff team in the following area: Community Living Key Stage 4: Class Teacher: In the Community Living Pathway at New Bridge School, you ll be working with pupils who require a highly personalised, practical approach to learning. These students benefit from a strong focus on communication, sensory integration, and developing functional independence. Many use PECS, Signalong and symbols to express themselves, and thrive through structured routines that support emotional regulation and resilience. Groups are small, typically no more than 10 pupils, supported by one teacher and up to three teaching assistants, ensuring personalised attention based on individual needs. The bespoke curriculum is designed to prepare pupils for adulthood, helping them to live and work either independently or with some support in their local community. It builds on prior learning with a strong emphasis on real-life, transferable skillssuch as communication, problem-solving, travel training, and decision-making. You ll help nurture confident, curious young people who can advocate for themselves, take pride in their abilities, and lead full, enriched lives beyond school. If you're creative, compassionate, and ready to empower learners with complex needs to achieve meaningful futures, we d love you to join our team This post would suit a primary specialist as the cognitive levels of our pupils in the main body are similar to those of a Primary setting. We would also welcome secondary practitioners with an interest in widening their teaching repertoire in an SEN setting. We would be interested in applicants with experience of supporting children or young people with Autism or Special Educational Needs within the primary or secondary sector. This is also an exciting opportunity for a teacher with mainstream experience who can demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting SEND pupils and is looking to work for an organisation which provides opportunities for professional development and progression. The successful candidates will: Be excellent practitioners with the commitment and motivation to inspire pupils learning and development Have experience of teaching young people with Autism or Special Educational Needs within the primary or secondary sector or have a specific interest in developing their teaching skills in a special school setting. Have high expectations of young people, and a commitment to raising standards of attainment to ensure that they can achieve their full educational potential Have experience of enhancement of pupil progress gains and raising attainment and achievement levels of all students Be able to demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation through imaginative and differentiated lessons which meet individual needs Have experience of current assessment practice and the use of data and pupil progress tracking to ensure that all groups of learners achieve Possess the emotional and physical resilience necessary when working with young people with a range of complex needs Be able to build positive relationships with the class group, ensuring consistency and continuity on a daily basis. Have the ability to foster good relationships with other staff, pupils, parents and the wider community Be hard working, organised and proactive in their professional development Be a team player who can work effectively with all members of the New Bridge team The posts will be based initially at New Bridge Lower School in Hollinwood, however, all staff are employed by the MAT and are expected to work at any site within the New Bridge Group. This post will be subject to a number of pre-employment checks including an enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and proof of right to work in the UK in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.
