This is an exciting time to be a Planning Lawyer in Peterborough. With major regeneration projects underway, including the ambitious Station Quarter development, you'll be at the heart of projects that will define the city for generations to come:
1. Station Quarter Regeneration – Play a key role in one of the most significant urban regeneration projects in the East of England
2. Strategic Development – Handle complex planning applications and development agreements that shape sustainable growth
3. Section 106 Expertise – Negotiate and draft agreements that deliver essential infrastructure and community benefits
4. Planning Committee Advocacy – Regular opportunities to present to elected members and influence decision-making
5. Infrastructure Delivery – Work on highways and transport projects that connect communities and enable economic growth
What You'll Do
6. Manage a diverse caseload of planning and highways matters from initial advice through to completion
7. Draft and negotiate Section 106 agreements and planning obligations
8. Attend Planning Committee meetings on a rota basis to provide expert legal advice to elected members
9. Advise on complex development proposals, including major regeneration schemes
10. Handle planning appeals, enforcement matters, and judicial review challenges
11. Work on highways agreements, adoption processes, and transport infrastructure projects
12. Collaborate with planning officers, developers, and external stakeholders on major projects
13. Support the delivery of the Council's growth agenda through robust legal frameworks

What We're Looking For
14. Qualified Solicitor with current practicing certificate, Barrister, or Fellow of CILEx
15. Strong planning law experience with knowledge of development processes
16. Experience with Section 106 agreements and planning obligations
17. Understanding of highways law and infrastructure delivery
18. Confident communication skills for committee presentations and stakeholder engagement
19. Ability to manage complex, multi-party negotiations
20. Interest in urban development and regeneration projects
21. Commercial awareness and understanding of development economics
